There may be no time of the year when we’re more conscious of our extra fat than during the summer. Between bathing suits, shorts, and tank tops, everything that’s temperature-appropriate seems to show all those unwanted inches you normally try to hide.

The problem is that losing weight is harder than it sounds. Eating right and exercising takes time few people have, not to mention dedication and discomfort.

Even if you’re one of the few who succeed in losing weight the “natural” way, the process takes months. By the time you hit your goal weight, summer will be over and it’ll be time for sweaters again.

Of course, you could opt for laser lipo instead. Here’s what you need to know.

What Is Laser Lipo?

Laser lipo has a misleading name. You’ve probably heard of traditional liposuction: a surgery in which a surgeon manually removes some of your fat cells.

Laser lipo gets its name because it affects your body the same way — by removing fat cells. However, Dr Tred’s Slim Body Laser Spa does this in a different way. Instead of using surgery, laser lipo gets rid of excess fatty calories by using a noninvasive “cold” laser.

How Does Laser Lipo Work?

Laser lipo works because researchers have found that fat cells are vulnerable to specific wavelengths of light. These wavelengths cause microscopic pores to form on the fat cells and the entire contents of the fat cell is released in only 10 minutes while leaving other cells like your skin and blood vessels unharmed.

During laser lipo, an experienced provider adjusts various settings to cast that perfect light wavelength onto your treatment area. Once they get drained your fat cells are smaller so they can no longer hold as much fat.

After 30 minutes of laser energy is applied to the fat cells, the entire contents of your fat cell is released and your body burns the extra calories as energy in the next 2-3 hours. As this happens, you’ll watch your treatment area get smaller and smaller with each session.

How Long Does It Take for Laser Lipo to Make a Difference?

Laser lipo is a gradual process. As we mentioned above, results are seen the same day and complete results are attained after 3 weeks, not after 3 months like “fat freezing” or one year as is associated with surgical procedures like lipo suction or skin removal. There is no downtime and no time needed for healing. Results are consistent, predictable and achieveable.

A full course of laser lipo consists of nine sessions over the course of three weeks. After this full course, we guarantee that you will have lost at least three inches in your treatment area. Some people lose as many as nine or ten inches, though.

Keep in mind that there are many factors that impact weight gain and weight loss. To offer the best possible results, we work with our patients to address several factors at the same time.

To complement your laser lipo, we can provide nutrition counseling, whole body vibration sessions, weight loss planning, and more.

Keep in mind, however, that you will still see results from laser lipo without taking other weight loss measures. These weight loss measures serve to enhance your results.

What Can I Expect During My Laser Lipo Sessions?

It’s understandable to be worried or nervous before any medical procedure. Rest assured that laser lipo is an easier treatment than most patients expect.

Before you begin, you’ll meet with me, Dr Tred Rissacher. We’ll take before photos and get measurements so you can track your progress. We’ll also discuss a plan that is tailored to you and your goals.

Each person’s plan is unique. We can target almost any specific area where you may want to slim down. This includes your abdomen, back, arms, legs, chest, and more.

During each of your nine laser lipo sessions, you’ll come in and a laser tech will adjust the laser settings and position based on your needs. Then you’ll rest in comfort for half an hour while the laser works on your fat cells.

Laser lipo does not cause pain during or after your treatments. There are no incisions or needle pricks, and you won’t need any recovery time. After each session, you can return to work or any other daily activities.

Are All Laser Lipo Treatments the Same?

The term “laser lipo” is used more often than it should be. There are several different light-based fat reduction treatments that use the nickname of laser lipo. That’s why it’s so important to know what you’re getting.

Not all of these procedures get the same results as the guaranteed three-inch loss that we provide. Instead of visiting a medical spa that happens to offer fat reduction treatments, head to a facility that specializes in laser assisted weight loss.

How Long Will My Results Last?

You’ll have your nine laser lipo sessions complete in a three-week period. During and after this time, you’ll be able to watch your results develop little by little. With each session, the laser will tighten the skin and shrink more fat cells.

After those targeted fat cells are empty, they will not refill very easily. However, it’s up to you to maintain your post-treatment weight.

It’s important to know that when you gain and lose weight naturally, your size changes because your fat cells take in more fat. This causes them to enlarge when you gain weight and shrink when you lose weight.

If you start eating more calories than you’re burning, your remaining fat cells will enlarge and you’ll gain back the inches you lost with laser lipo.

This is one of the reasons we offer nutritional and weight management counseling as part of our laser lipo package. We want you to get the best possible results and to keep them forever. Learning weight management techniques from the pros will help you do this.
